Frequently Asked Questions

Therapy is a licensed clinical service for people dealing with mental health conditions, trauma, relationship difficulties, grief, and a wide range of life challenges. As a licensed therapist Carol can work with people experiencing significant mental health struggles as well as those who are highly functioning but want more out of life.
Coaching works with people who are basically healthy and functional but not reaching their full potential. Coaching addresses mindset, self-limiting beliefs, patterns, and the internal obstacles that get in the way of moving forward. Carol's background in psychotherapy brings depth to her coaching that most coaching models miss.
Not sure which one you need? That's exactly what the free consultation is for.

Off Duty, Not Off Guard is a 10-week group coaching and resiliency program for first responders. It is not therapy. It is a structured, tactical skill-building program led by Adam Crawley that gives participants practical tools for managing hypervigilance, communication, attachment, and home-life transitions.
If you need individual therapy in addition to the program, that can be arranged separately.

Carol does not provide therapy for children. If you are seeking services for a minor please reach out and we will do our best to connect you with an appropriate referral.
-
It depends on what you are working on and how much effort you put in between sessions. Some people see significant change in a few months. Others do deeper work over a longer period. Carol will give you an honest assessment of what to expect based on your specific situation.

The free consultation is a 15-20 minute call or Google Meet with Carol or Adam. It is not a therapy session — it is a real conversation. You will share what is bringing you in right now, ask any questions you have, and together you will figure out if this is the right fit. There is no obligation.

All sessions are conducted via Google Meet. You will need a device with a camera and microphone — a smartphone, tablet, or computer all work. Carol will send you a link before your session. Sessions are private, secure, and can be done from anywhere you have a reliable internet connection.

Carol is licensed to provide therapy in California and Tennessee. Coaching services are available to clients in any state. If you are unsure whether what you need is therapy or coaching, we will sort that out together in the free consultation.
-
Individual and couples therapy sessions are $200-$250 per session. A sliding scale is available for those who qualify — ask about this during your consultation.
-
Carol does not accept insurance directly. However your insurance plan may offer out-of-network reimbursement — meaning you pay at the time of service and submit a superbill to your insurance for partial reimbursement. Contact your insurance provider to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits.

Carol provides clinical supervision for pre-licensed MFTs — AMFTs and APCCs in California and pre-licensed MFTs in Tennessee. Individual supervision is $150 per session. Group supervision is $75 per person per session.
-
Not necessarily, but supervision is most valuable when your clinical work overlaps with Carol's areas of expertise — first responder families, complex trauma, couples work, and affair recovery. If your caseload is in completely different areas she will tell you honestly in the consultation.
-
Not at all. You do not need to share Carol's beliefs. What she asks is that you respect a practice culture rooted in faith values. Supervision is never used to impose religious beliefs, and all supervisees are expected to work ethically and respectfully with clients of all belief systems.
